Download and install the Camera Raw plug-in. Note: If you still haven't been able to successfully update the Camera Raw plug-in for currently supported versions of Adobe applications, use the Camera Raw 12.4 installer below.

  • This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to OS X Yosemite: Canon PowerShot G3 X, Leica Q (Typ 116), Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX8, Sony Alpha ILCE-7R II, Sony Cyber-shot DSC.
  • For more information, see Use Camera Raw 5.x with Photoshop Elements 6 when you also have Photoshop CS3 installed (Mac OS). Note 4: If you are using Mac OS 10.3.x, then Camera Raw 4.1 is the latest version that you can install for Photoshop Elements 4.0.1.

The following is a workaround to update Camera Raw within Elements. It is recommended to wait for Camera Raw updates within the product for issue fixes.

If you haven't been able to update the Camera Raw plug-in for Elements, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the latest Camera Raw version from Camera Raw plug-in installer.

    • On macOS, double-click the .dmg file to mount it.
    • On Windows double-click the downloaded .zip file to unzip it. (Windows might unzip the file for you.)
    • On macOS, double-click the .pkg file to start the installer.
    • On Windows, double-click the resulting .exe file to start the installer.
  2. Once installed successfully, close the installer window.

  3. Navigate to the following folder:

    • On macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CC/File Formats
    • On Windows: C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobePlug-InsCCFile Formats
  4. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in from the CC > File Formats folder that is mentioned in the above step.

  5. Navigate to the following folder:

    • On macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/Elements<Version Number>/File Formats
    • On Windows: C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobePlug-InsElements<Version Number>File Formats
  6. Replace the existing Camera Raw plugin in Elements<Version Number> folder with the plug-in that you copied in step 8.
